Former Tulane president, Weatherhead School dean Scott Cowen to present on Hurricane Katrina’s effects on New Orleans

headshot of Scott CowenAuthor and former Tulane University President Scott Cowen, who also is the former dean at Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management, experienced the devastation of New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. His recently published book is about lessons learned from that natural disaster.

Cowen will give the guest lecture at Laura and Alvin Siegal Lifelong Learning Program Beachwood Facility (26500 Shaker Blvd.) at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18. The lecture is free and open to the public. Preferred seating is available for $18.

Cowen, known for his leadership, quickly formed a coalition of civic, business and nonprofit leaders with the goal of moving ahead promptly—and not slowed by bureaucracy—to revitalize and transform New Orleans. His recently published book, The Inevitable City: The Resurgence of New Orleans and the Future of Urban America, presents 10 principles that significantly aided in the city’s comeback and could also serve as a model for others in need of transformative change.
