Women’s and gender studies professor to visit CWRU to lead Flora Stone Mather Center luncheon

Barbara WinslowAt the next Flora Stone Mather Center for Women brown-bag lunch, join author Barbara Winslow for a discussion about her new book Shirley Chisholm: Catalyst for Change.

Winslow, a professor of education and women’s and gender studies at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, will discuss her book, which is a part of the Lives of American Women Series. This series of biographies, edited by Carol Berkin, is devoted to enriching the history of the United States by examining the lives of women within their historical contexts, and sharing their stories, many of which are not often told.

Winslow’s research focuses on women in social protest movements and the intersection of gender, race and sexuality.

The lunch will take place Wednesday, Feb. 26, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Thwing Center’s Spartan Room.

The first 10 people to register for this event will receive a free copy of the book.
