Katia Almeida, instructor of anthropology, and Lisa Nielson, SAGES and music lecturer, will present at the annual Wittke/Jackson Lecture on Friday, April 10, at 12:30 p.m. in DeGrace Hall, Room 312.
Almeida and Nielson are the 2014 winners of the Carl F. Wittke Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
Almeida teaches undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in cultural anthropology, globalization and socio-economic development, contemporary Latin America and Brazil and SAGES seminars. Read last year’s Wittke Award story on Almeida.
Nielson, whose SAGES appointment is through the Department of Music, teaches students the complexities of race, gender and diversity through such courses as “Gender, Visibility and Performance: The Courtesan,” and “Seclusion, Gender and the Exotic: Imagining the Harem.” Read last year’s Wittke Award story on Nielson.
