On Friday, Oct. 4, the Case Western Reserve University Institute for Health Care Improvement (IHI) chapter will screen the movie Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare.
This documentary tackles how to reform the U.S. health care system. It examines the forces maintaining the status quo, the medical industry and the movement to bring high-touch, low-cost methods of prevention and healing into the medical system.
Following the movie, a panel of quality improvement and patient safety experts from area hospitals will lead an open discussion.
The screening is Friday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. in the Biomedical Research Building auditorium. This event, sponsored by the Graduate Student Senate, is free and will include dinner.
IHI’s campus chapter seeks to educate and collaborate with nursing, medical, business and social work students and health care professionals. Members of the organization hope to better the health care system and increase patient safety through inter-professional discussions, events and workshops.
The organization hosts events such as workshops on quality and patient safety interventions, quality improvement projects, root cause analyses, and open panels with leaders in patient quality and safety.
The CWRU IHI Open School Chapter is looking for new members of its leadership board. For more information on leadership opportunities, contact Sarah Givens (sec57@case.edu) and find the group on Facebook and LinkedIn (search Case Western IHI Open School).
