Art history’s Elina Gertsman explores empty space in Gothic art in new book

Elina Gertsman, the Archbishop Paul J. Hallinan Professor in Catholic Studies II and professor of art history, penned a new book, recently published by Penn State University Press.

The Absent Image: Lacunae in Medieval Books is the result of Gertsman’s the American Council of Learned Societies fellowship. The book explores the topic of empty space in Gothic art.
