Apply to be a volunteer wayfinder at University Hospitals

Are you interested in a career in medicine? Do you have a passion for helping others and brightening someone’s day? Does being supportive, providing assistance to folks who need it, and relieving the stress of others spark joy for you?

University Hospitals is recruiting wayfinders during the fall 2022 semester! Wayfinders offer assistance to patients and visitors, help individuals navigate the UH campus, provide directions, and accompany patients to their appointments. UH’s campus can be intimidating for new visitors and patients, and wayfinders aid those who may otherwise get lost in the hospital, miss their scheduled appointments, or are unable to find their loved ones’ hospital rooms. Wayfinders help hospitals run smoothly by ensuring that patients arrive at their destinations. They save time, relieve patient and visitor stresses, and decrease staff workload, giving our medical staff extra time to focus on patient care. Finally, wayfinders are UH’s “eyes and ears,” helping security staff maintain a safe hospital campus.

We ask all of our volunteers to commit to 50 hours of service before moving to a new position; however we will give first priority to wayfinders when placing them in new roles once their service commitment is met.
