The Year 6 PIT-UN Network Challenge application portal will be open through May 17 for the grant term of Oct. 1, 2024, to Jan. 30, 2026.
As in 2023, the 2024 challenge will support projects in two areas:
- Educational offerings that foster cross-disciplinary perspectives and credentialing.
- Career pipeline and placement efforts to develop a public interest technology workforce in government, industry and social impact organizations.
In 2024, the challenge will support new ideas and frameworks for advancing public interest technology in the following areas:
- Climate and environment (must include opportunities for storytelling about PIT)
- State and local government partnerships in data science, AI or quantum computing
- AI, quantum and emerging technologies (must include opportunities for storytelling about PIT)
- Democracy and elections
- Gender justice
There is particular interest in projects that do not replicate existing and previously funded projects, but instead offer a new approach or lens for public interest technology. Review past network challenge projects and the full request for proposals.
View the “Creating a Strong PIT Project” webinar as a helpful primer for understanding public interest technology, and how to develop a PIT project with a strong diversity, equity and inclusion lens.
Written questions about the request for proposals are due by April 12 to info@pitcases.org. Answers will be posted to the FAQ section of the 2024 Network Challenge landing page by April 17. View the sample New Proposal and Expand & Scale forms in the grant management system.
