The Office of Education Abroad is now accepting applications for 2014 spring semester study abroad courses.
All programs can be found and applied for at studyabroad.case.edu.
Applications for winter break courses are also available.
There will be an information session on winter break study abroad opportunities on Friday, April 5, from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. in the Tomlinson Hall first-floor conference room.
Students are invited to come learn about the different study-abroad options that Case Western Reserve University offers. At the event, returnees from the 2012-2013 winter-break programs in Costa Rica and Ecuador will share their experiences.
The Office of Education Abroad also will host a table in Nord Hall on Tuesday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Representatives will be on hand to discuss study abroad options.

SASS375/575: Health, human and social development
The Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences will offer a winter break three-credit course to Ecuador. Students register for fall semester credit, and travel occurs Dec. 29 to Jan. 11.
This course is approved for “Global and Cultural Diversity” credit for College of Arts and Sciences students and as a humanities credit for engineering students. Students will spend two weeks in Ecuador and experience the capital city, Quito, spend time in the Amazon rainforest, live with an indigenous family, and spend a day with the Afro-indigenous community.
The three-credit-hour course provides an integrated approach to the study of the multicultural issues related to policies and services that center around human and community development in Ecuador.

BETH 315C/415C: Health and Health Care in Comparative Perspective: Costa Rica and the United States
The Department of Bioethics will offer a winter break three-credit course to Costa Rica. Students register for fall semester credit and travel Jan. 1-11.
This course is approved for “Global and Cultural Diversity” credit for College of Arts and Sciences students and as a humanities credit for engineering students.
This three-credit bioethics course gives students the opportunity to observe patients and practitioners encounter in a radically different health care system. Students will gain firsthand experience of Costa Rican health care through field experiences at a national hospital in the capital city, San Jose; a peripheral treatment clinic in a smaller town; and observation of the work of an integrated basic health care team in a native reserve.
