Courthouse NewsLee Hoffer, associate professor of anthropology at the College of Arts and Sciences, said millions of affluent Americans are using hallucinogens to self-medicate for psychological problems, producing that nation’s newest illegal drug boom. “We’re seeing a lot of people in their 40s, 50s and 60s” doing psychedelics, he said. “They’re white, middle- or upper-middle-class and work as professionals.”
