Daniel Scherson, the Frank Hovorka Professor of Chemistry and director of the Ernest B. Yeager Center for Electrochemical Sciences, was awarded the Edward W. Morley Medal by the American Chemical Society’s Cleveland Section. The award will be presented at a banquet in May, at which time Scherson will deliver the Edward W. Morley Lecture.

The award recognizes individuals who make significant contributions to chemistry through achievements in research, teaching, engineering, research administration and public service, and those who have had outstanding service to humanity or industrial progress.

The award is given in honor of Edward W. Morley, the former Western Reserve College professor famous for his precise and accurate measure of the atomic weight of oxygen and the Michelson-Morley experiment.
