Alumnus, Cisco leader to speak on global sustainability, energy-saving initiatives

The Case Western Reserve University Office for Sustainability and the Sustainability Alliance will host a lunch lecture and discussion with Ali Ahmed, global sustainability and energy leader for Cisco, on Wednesday, April 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center Senior Classroom.

Ahmed, a Case Western Reserve alumnus, will discuss Cisco’s global sustainability and energy initiative, with a focus on big data. He will also share his personal career story and give advice to students interested in working in the field of energy and sustainability.

Ahmed has managed more than 50 global energy and sustainability programs. During the past several years as a leader within the Cisco Systems organization, he has generated $22 million in annualized cost savings, halted 10 to 20 percent annual utility cost increases and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent.
