“All the King’s Men and Women: The March for Freedom for Montgomery to Memphis”

Join the Siegal Lifelong Learning Program for an upcoming in-person lecture in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

Cassandra Veney, executive director of the HILLS Program, will present “All the King’s Men and Women: The March for Freedom for Montgomery to Memphis” Monday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Landmark Centre Building (25700 Science Park Dr.).

The lecture will provide a brief historical overview of the fight for civil rights. Veney will focus on domestic and international events/issues/actors that contributed to King becoming the leader of the modern civil rights movement from his rise to national prominence during the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott to his assassination in Memphis. King’s work also will be examined in context of the vast infrastructure of the women, men and organizations that allowed him to sustain the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
