ACES Distinguished Lecturer to examine female representation in UK politics

sarahchildsThe campus community is invited to attend a presentation from Academic Careers in Engineering and Science (ACES) Distinguished Lecturer Sarah Childs, professor of politics and gender at the University of Bristol, UK, as she examines “Conservatism, Conservative Parties and Women’s Political Representation: The UK Case.”

The free and open event will take place Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Senior Classroom at the Tinkham Veale University Center. A question-and-answer session will follow the lecture.

Childs’ most recent work focuses on women and gender in the British Conservative Party, and on gender, conservatism and political representation. Her research has appeared in Party Politics, Politics & Gender, Political Studies and other scholarly journals.

The event is sponsored by ACES, the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women and the CWRU Women’s and Gender Studies Program.
