Adler says Tea Party group’s efforts can’t overturn federal health care mandateJuly 7, 2011Media· Ohio Tea Party groups seek ballot measure to reject new federal health care law The Plain Dealer: Ohioans for Healthcare Freedom turned in more than 546,000 signatures in an effort to get a proposed amendment on the state constitution that would preserve Ohioans’ right to choose health care rather than require an individual mandate. Even if voters approve the amendment, though, School of Law professor Jonathan Adler doesn’t believe it will trump the federal law. “It doesn’t relieve Ohio citizens of having to comply with federal law,” he said. “That’s not something Ohio can do.”
