Lynda.com to continue as LinkedIn Learning; CWRU community to maintain unlimited access

The video training site Lynda.com has been purchased by social media company LinkedIn. Case Western Reserve University community members will continue to have the same unlimited access through the university, at no additional cost, under the new name of LinkedIn Learning.

During the week of Aug. 5, the CWRU portal to Lynda.com will be closed for up to 18 hours to allow for the transition. Registered users at CWRU will receive the following communications from LinkedIn Learning concerning the transition:

  • Within the next week, an initial email will be sent when the exact date is finalized.
  • When the 18-hour window starts, a notification email will be sent to indicate when the closure is beginning.
  • When the site reopens, a welcome email will be sent.

To use the site, users will need to register with a LinkedIn account or sign up for a new LinkedIn Learning account. Access still will be behind the CWRU Single Sign-On log-in.

Saved content, “my videos” tracking and other key usage/reporting features maintained for individual accounts will remain intact and up-to-date for all current users after the transition is completed. The upgraded site will contain the same content from Lynda.com, with a new interface and suite of tools from LinkedIn.
