Case Western Reserve University’s Creative Writing Club, Writers Writing Words, will be hosting a charity event April 22-26 to supply books to kids in low income Cleveland families. For every cent donated to the organization, club members will add a single word to a collection of creative fiction and poetry to be published at the start of the 2019-2020 school year.
All money gathered by the club will be donated to The Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank, which helps raise childhood literacy in Cleveland by distributing free books to working class families; kids reading at a young age will be better prepared to thrive in school and in life.
Members of Writers Writing Words, CWRU students hailing from a diversity of STEM and humanities majors, will be tabling in Tinkham Veale University Center the week of 4/22 to raise money for the event. All members of the CWRU community are encouraged to donate.
The club is additionally offering the option for all CWRU members to submit their own creative writing pieces for consideration in the 2019-2020 publication. Through this option, any aspiring creative writer at CWRU may have a chance to see their work published and shared with the larger campus community.
