Holi 2019

Holi 2019 AprilApr 06 2019 01:00pm - 02:00pmFreiburger Field

All students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community are invited to celebrate Holi with CWRU Saturday, April 6.

Originating in Hindu legend, Holi traditionally commemorated the act of the dark blue god Krishna applying color to the face of his soul mate. Known as the festival of colors, Holi celebrations consist of the throwing of colored powders and waters at others. Though primarily celebrated in India and Nepal, Holi is observed in many other countries throughout Southeast Asia and around the world.

CWRU’s celebration will feature lots of colored powder, Indian street food, water games, badminton, cricket, music and traditions associated with Holi and Basant.

The event will take place Saturday, April 6, at 1 p.m. at Freiberger Field.

The first 100 guests with a CWRU ID will receive a free kite and the first 400 guests with a CWRU ID will receive a free CWRU T-shirt.

The colored powder is safe and non-toxic but may stain certain clothing, so please plan accordingly.

This event is sponsored by The Center for International Affairs, The Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Office of the Provost and First Year Experience.

CWRU’s Holi celebration is made possible with the help of the Undergraduate Indian Students Association, SATRANG, iClub and other student organizations.
