Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars and fellows who are considering a career in teaching can sign up for the University 400C Future Faculty Preparation Seminar as a first step in their process. UNIV 400C is a non-credit seminar.
Taught by two experienced teachers and a seasoned graduate teaching assistant, this seminar offers participants the chance to learn effective teaching strategies useful across major disciplines.
Through small group discussions, journal assignments and micro-teaching sessions, participants will have opportunities to learn about and try out successful teaching strategies. In addition, guest lecturers will guide students through online teaching techniques.
Participants will be expected to read assignments, complete a weekly journal, plan and teach a mini-lesson, and participate fully in all discussions and online sessions.
The seminar will take place Tuesdays from Jan. 29 to April 23. Two sections are available: from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and from 1 to 2:15 p.m.
Enrollment is limited to 15 students per section. A free textbook is provided.
Graduate students will be enrolled via the Student Information System. Postdoctoral scholars and fellows should email postdoc@case.edu for registration instructions.
