Jeff Kretschmar, managing director of the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education, recently co-authored a piece for the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange with Summit County Judge Linda Tucci Teodosio.
Titled “How Ohio’s Restore Court Focuses on Helping Sex Trafficked Youth,” the article focused on the Summit County Juvenile Court’s Restore Court.
The mission of Restore is to empower youth involved with or at risk of human trafficking to achieve successful lives by providing appropriate support. Restore is a strength-based and participant (victim)-centered approach to serving court-involved victims of commercial sexual exploitation up to 18 years old.
The article explains the purpose of the court and how it assists youth and families, as well as the court’s challenges, including relapse.
