Please join us for free events offering a chance to reflect on the incredibly moving words and music to come from the devastation of the 1914-1918 “war to end all wars.”
At 11 a.m., the hour in which the Armistice was signed 100 years ago, with bell towers around the world, the McGaffin Carillon’s Memorial Bell will toll 100 times.
At 3:30 p.m., a recital of Music Composed for War Memorial Carillon Dedications will include a piece premiering and being played internationally that day to celebrate a new carillon in Leuven, Belgium, sponsored by Leuven and the German city of Neuss.
At 4 p.m. hear music by Elgar, Karg-Elert, Debussy, Hovhannes, Strauss, and others for organ, flute, and voice, with readings of poetry, letters, and memoirs from The War. Free reception follows.
