Be a judge at CWRU Mock Trial’s upcoming event Oct. 27-28

In just a couple weeks CWRU Mock Trial is gearing up to host its 11th annual Spartan Throwdown invitational tournament Oct. 27–28 at the Cleveland Justice Center. This year’s case, which is produced every year by the American Mock Trial Associations, is called Midlands Television Studios v. Danny Kosack, a civil case involving celebrities, talent agents, and a very angry chimpanzee.

In order to run a successful tournament, we rely on volunteers to serve as judges for each “trial.” Judges will preside over each round, making rulings, hearing objection arguments, and scoring the teams on ballots. As a judge at the Throwdown, you’ll be able to witness some exceptional mock trial; last year over 75% of our tournament’s field was composed of national-level teams.

Any person with a legal background, whether lawyer, judge, law student, or professor, is welcome to judge. We also welcome anyone with mock trial experience – though a mock background is not necessary! For more information, contact our co-tournament directors, Anna Ashley and Kyle Parker, at mocktrialcasewestern@gmail.com.
