Emeritus statistics professor Joe Sedransk will be honored at the 2011 Joint Statistical Meeting (JSM) in Miami July 31-Aug. 4. Two sessions will be held in his honor: “Surveys, Bayesian Modeling and the Interconnections” and “Bayesian Modeling and Inference for Finite Populations.” Sedransk’s areas of expertise are Bayesian inference, sample survey theory and methodology.
JSM is the largest gathering of statisticians held in North America, with more than 6,000 attendees from the American Statistical Association, the International Biometric Society, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the Statistical Society of Canada, the International Chinese Statistical Association and the International Indian Statistical Association.
