The Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education will host several events Thursday, Oct. 4, in honor of its 20th anniversary. The events will be held at different locations at open to different audiences.
Lunch + Learn with Begun Center National Advisory Board Members
CWRU students are invited to a lunch with the Begun Center’s National Advisory Board members to learn about their widely varied work in behavioral health, violence prevention, criminology and more. The event will take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in various classrooms at Mandel Center for Community Studies and will count as one professional development hour.
Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP. The lunch is co-sponsored by Mandel School Research and Training.
Research Symposium
All members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to hear from the Begun Center’s 55 faculty, students and staff about their current work in behavioral health, suicide prevention, trauma, sexual assault kit testing, domestic violence homicide prevention, specialized dockets, the heroin-opiate crisis, school- and community-based research, human trafficking, juvenile justice, law enforcement and much more.
The event will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Linsalata Alumni Center and will count as two professional development hours. It is co-sponsored by Mandel School Research and Training.
Reception and Award Ceremony
CWRU faculty, staff and community members who support the work of the Center can meet and network with Begun Center’s community and funding partners, current and former staff and experts in violence prevention and behavioral health from around the country. The event will honor the inaugural Begun Center Award for Community Partnership recipient and the center’s work in the community and nationwide over two decades.
The event will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Linsalata Alumni Center. Hors d’oeuvres, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and desserts will be served.
