The test of the university’s energy-reduction capabilities, originally scheduled for Monday, June 25, has been postponed. The university community will be informed if or when the test is rescheduled.
The test was intended to see how much the university’s demand would be reduced by in the event of an emergency, but due to the above-average temperatures and projected demands currently, the university’s demands likely will be higher, which could yield a lower performance. For this reason, among others, the power grid operators have postponed the systemwide test for all of its partners.
The university is still taking part in the program, and an emergency reduction still could be required this summer. The campus community will be notified in advance before such an event takes place.
