Individuals interested in science policy and those who are considering alternative career paths are invited to learn the basics of science policy at the Case Western Reserve Science and Human Rights Coalition’s workshop Thursday, June 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Social Justice Institute in Crawford Hall, Room A15C.
About the workshop
This event will introduce attendees to science policy advocacy, focusing on relevant congressional committees, federal agencies and White House offices. The workshop will cover the federal budget cycle and how science funding relates to overall discretionary funding.
Attendees will identify relevant committees and congresspeople with whom to advocate and craft a message for those specific stakeholders.
At the end of the informational section of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to work in groups on planning advocacy action on a topic of interest to them.
