“The Elevator Pitch Workshop: Presenting Your Research to Strangers”

Prepare for Research ShowCASE and Intersections with a seminar offered by Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors (SOURCE).

“The Elevator Pitch Workshop: Presenting Your Research to Strangers” will be offered twice: April 11 and April 13. Both sessions will be held from 12:45 to 2 p.m. in Olin Building, Room 313.

Brush up on how to present research and class projects effectively to passers-by as well as to judges—very different experiences from giving an oral presentation in the classroom.

Participants will get valuable tips on:

  • Explaining a complex research project in a cogent and succinct one-minute recap (known as “the pitch”);
  • Developing strategies for answering questions about one’s research;
  • Capturing the attention of the passerby in large open settings;
  • Being inclusive of the late arrival to the presentation; and
  • Sharing speaking roles when the elevator pitch involves teams of students.
