Are you a parent who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder? Do you have a 15-45 year old?
If so, you or your child may be eligible to participate in an observational study. The purpose of this study is to identify factors associated with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or other mood and anxiety disorders, in children with a parent diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder using answers to self-report questionnaires about symptoms and functioning. We want to learn more about the impact education, therapy and medication may have on developing mood and anxiety disorders in children with a parent diagnosed with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
To take part in this study, participants must be between the ages of 15 and 45 and have at least one parent who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Additional criteria will be assessed by a study doctor to determine eligibility.
Study participation will last up to 24 months. The study is designed to follow all participants every 4 months either in-person or by telephone to assess clinical/medical status. In addition, participants will be asked to complete questionnaires at home every 2 months for the entire duration of the study.
