Science: By inserting a mutated gene, P140K, into cancer patients, researchers have found a way to protect them from chemotherapy’s side effects and boost their odds of surviving glioblastoma, a particularly aggressive form of brain cancer. Stan Gerson, professor of medicine and discoverer of P140K, said the study “establishes the proof of concept for the first time. That’s a big leap. And this is the very first step.”
