The photography of Peter Lu will be celebrated at an opening reception for “Girih Tiles: Decagonal Geometry in Medieval Islamic Architectural Tilings & Beyond” Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m. in the Kelvin Smith Library. Refreshments will be served.
Lu’s Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities talk will immediately follow at 5 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Lu’s images of medieval Islamic architectural monuments visually focus on the mathematical properties of structures and geometric tiling. This correlates to Lu’s work as physicist that focuses on optics, imaging and visualization.
The exhibit will be on view in the Kelvin Smith Library Art Gallery from Wednesday, Oct. 25, to Friday, Dec. 8.
