Volunteer at the 2017 International Symposium on Academic Makerspaces

The 2017 International Symposium on Academic Makerspaces will be held Sept. 24–26 at the Tinkham Veale University Center.

Case Western Reserve University is one of eight schools in The Higher Education Makerspaces Initiatives, a collaboration of leading universities that focuses on solving the challenges of academic makerspaces and making their combined learnings available to others. The other seven schools in the initiative are University of California – Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, Georgia Institute of Technology, MIT, Olin College, Stanford University and Yale University.

The Higher Education Makerspaces Initiatives will sponsor the symposium, with nearly 400 guests attending from all over the world.

Volunteers are needed to work two- to four-hour shifts from Sunday, Sept. 24, at 7 a.m. through Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m. Volunteers also will be needed to attend a one-hour training session where assignments will be confirmed and volunteer T-shirts will be distributed. During the symposium, there will be food for volunteers in a break room. In addition, many of the corporate sponsors will have demonstrations of cutting-edge commercial and makerspace equipment.

The following shifts will be available each day of the symposium:

• 7 to 9 a.m.
• 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
• 10 a.m. to noon
• 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• 2 to 3 p.m.
• 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
• 4 to 7 p.m. (this shift is not available Tuesday, Sept. 26)
