The university community is invited to participate in the Day of Dialogue Friday, Sept. 1, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Discussions will be held at six locations across campus, each with a different topic.
Participants will share ideas and hear diverse perspectives on local, national and societal issues.
Trained facilitators will lead all discussions.
The topics are:
- “Bridging the Divide: Building Relations Between CWRU and Our Nearby Neighborhoods,” sponsored by the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (Mandel School, Room 115)
- “What’s It All About: Unpacking Issues Related to the Charlottesville, VA Incident,” sponsored by the Office for Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity (Kevin Smith Library, Room 215)
- This event is part of new Diversity 360 Lunch and Learn Series, a collaboration between the Office for Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity and Office of Multicultural Affairs.
- “Creating a More Inclusive Society in the Midst of Attacks on Racial, Ethnic, Religious Groups and Others,” sponsored by Office of Multicultural Affairs (Sears Building, Room 450)
- Part of new Diversity 360 Lunch and Learn Series, a collaboration between the Office for Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity and Office of Multicultural Affairs.
- “How Are Language and Symbols Related to the Charlottesville Incident (Confederate flag, torches, photographs of marchers & others) Impacting Individuals’ Thinking Around These Events,” sponsored by the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women (Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 248)
- “In Response to White Supremacy: How Can Communities Reflect and Act?” sponsored by the Social Justice Institute (Crawford Hall, Room A13)
- “Decompression Space” for individuals who desire to reflect and/or process thoughts in a quiet space (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Center, Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 179)
Day of Dialogue is a collaboration between the CWRU Sustained Dialogue Program and dialogue session sponsors.
The event also kicks of the monthly “Lunch & Learn” series, which will provide a deeper look at and opportunity for discussion on issues and concepts discussed during Diversity 360.
