Gabonese cultural studies and literature scholar Honorine Ngou will visit campus April 13 for a talk, titled “Advancement of the African Woman: Myth or Reality.” The talk will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Clark Hall 309.
Ngou, professor of Francophone cultural studies and literature at Omar Bongo University in Gabon, is the author of several book-length essays, including Mariage et violence dans la société traditionnelle fang au Gabon, Le Tribalisme: Un virus qui tue la paix, Le Gabon des républiques and Vingt-huit clés pour entretenir son couple. In addition, Ngou has also published two novels: Féminin interdit and Afép: L’étrangleur-séducteur. She is also an advocate for women’s rights in her native Gabon and an entrepreneur, having opened Le Savoir, one of the first woman-owned bookstores in Africa.
