Noted book collector Robert H. Jackson will present his talk, “Victorian Serials: Essential Parts of the 19th Century Imagination,” April 11 at 4 p.m. in Kelvin Smith Library’s Dampeer Room.
In his talk, Jackson will explore the various aspects of serial publishing, including the important role it played in extending literacy.
Jackson, a partner in the Cleveland law firm of Kohrman Jackson & Krantz, is a noted collector of rare books who writes and speaks widely around the world on the history and future of the book and literary culture. Jackson is on the visiting committee of the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University and is chairman of the advisory committee for the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities. He was the Malkin lecturer in literature in 2011 at The University of Virginia, and he is the author of numerous articles and a co-editor of Book Talk: Essays on Books and Collecting, Booksellers, and Special Collections (Oak Knoll Press, 2006).
