Voluntary self-identification of disability and/or veteran status

In accordance with federal requirements and as part of the university’s commitment to diversity, Case Western Reserve invites all employees to self-identify their status as individuals with disabilities and/or as veterans.

Submission of this information is voluntary. Those who decline to self-identify will not face any adverse treatment. In addition, all information provided will be kept confidential. It will not be used for any other purpose than in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Finally the information will be kept separate from each employee’s individual personnel file.

While self-identification is entirely voluntary, the university encourages employees to do so.

Faculty and staff can go online to access the university’s Human Capital Management system at hcm.case.edu to complete the self-identification forms.

Once employees log in, they should select:

  • Self service
  • Personal Information
  • Disability (or –Veteran, if applicable)

From there the individual can select and complete the appropriate form(s), then click “submit.”

Supervisors are encouraged to post this information regarding voluntary self-identification to ensure that employees are aware of the option is available to individuals, whether or not they regularly check their university email accounts.

Although the university periodically invites employees to self-identify, employees may update their disability and/or veteran status at any time using the HCM system.

It is Case Western Reserve’s policy not to discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment on the basis of disability and/or veteran status (among other criteria). The university’s Affirmative Action policy and non-discrimination policy encourages the employment and advancement in employment of qualified individuals with disabilities.
