Seed grants to enhance internationalization are now available to faculty members at Case Western Reserve University. The awards, offered through the Center for International Affairs, are available up to $7,500, and the Center for International Affairs will work with recipients to secure additional external funding, as necessary.
“The faculty are the real drivers of the internationalization effort at Case Western Reserve University, and we hope that these grants provide them the support that they need to develop new programs,” said Molly Watkins, director for international affairs.
Academic year 2011-12 is the inaugural year of the seed grants; if successful, and as funds are available, the program will be repeated annually. Examples of the kinds of expenditures eligible for support include:
- The development and implementation of sustainable faculty-designed and -led education abroad programs
- The development and implementation of sustainable international research projects involving undergraduate students
- The development of long-term international partnerships that will increase the international student population at Case Western Reserve and/or provide study abroad opportunities for students
- The development of sustainable programs to support the international student population and promote international endeavors at Case Western Reserve
- The development of new international and cross-discipline curricula
Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of the quality of the proposed project and its relevance to the international efforts at Case Western Reserve. All proposals are welcome; those that are interdisciplinary or have a plan for sustainability are particularly encouraged.
