The Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods presents “The Ties that Bind: What We Know about the Mechanisms Through Which Social Networks Influence Health Behaviors” Feb. 9 at 12:15 p.m. in the Bioenterprise Building ground floor conference room.
Melinda Forthofer, associate professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at University of South Carolina, will lead the lecture. A social epidemiologist cross-trained in sociology and health behavior/health education, Forthofer has more than 15 years of experience studying social factors related to health behavior change in children, adolescents and adults in diverse community settings. Much of her current research is focused on the role of social factors in the promotion of health behaviors, particularly the role of social networks in physical activity.
A light lunch will be provided.
