First-year students: Take Modern Language Placement Exam by July 7

Incoming first-year students who studied French, German or Spanish and want to continue that language at Case Western Reserve this fall should take the appropriate language placement exam by completing the Modern Language Placement Exams item on the New Student Checklist by Thursday, July 7.

Students can log in to the checklist to complete the exam that pertains to them or to indicate their intent to not continue studying a foreign language this fall.

The study of a foreign language is encouraged, but not required, by the university. Students only need to take the exam if they intend to continue studies in one of these languages at CWRU this fall. Those who plan to study other languages during their college career need not take a placement exam.

Those who may be interested in continuing their study of a language in upcoming semesters, but not this fall semester, can plan to complete a diagnostic closer to the time in which they plan to resume their study of the language.

Questions about placement exams and related topics should be directed to the Office of Undergraduate Studies at summerreghelp@case.edu.
