In the next couple of months, approximately 200 multifunctional printers with fax capabilities will be upgraded to a newer model. The new machines will be connected directly to the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) network, providing tremendous cost savings by eliminating the need for fax boards and phone lines.
As part of the “Cost-Per-Copy” Program, the implementation costs include the new machine, toner and full maintenance/repair services. CWRU is billed on a per copy basis, which, in most cases, is much less than printing to desktop printers.
The vendor selected to assist with this campus-wide initiative, Meritech, will contact each department involved with the undertaking to schedule convenient dates and times for the upgrade. Meritech also will provide trained personnel to ensure the transition from the older machines to the new models goes as smoothly as possible and that university staff members are educated and comfortable with the overall process.
Contact Beth Nochomovitz, director of auxiliary services, at elizabeth.nochomovitz@case.edu with any questions or feedback.
Staff also can contact John DeFranco with Meritech at jdefranco@meritechinc.com with questions regarding the current or new machines.
The target timeframe for completion of the upgrade process is the end of May.
