The 27th annual Harvey Buchanan Lecture in Art History and the Humanities will be held today (April 22) at 5:30 p.m. in the Cleveland Museum of Art’s recital hall.
Sponsored by the Department of Art History and Art, the Buchanan Lecture brings internationally renowned experts whose research focuses on art history and museums to Cleveland.
This year, Professor Jas’ Elsner of Oxford University will give a lecture on “Visual Ontologies: Style, Archaism, and the Construction of the Sacred in the Western Tradition.”
A tribute to Harvey Buchanan, a longtime CWRU professor and administrator who passed away earlier this year, will precede Elsner’s lecture.
