Pope Francis provides leeway on divorcees, gays without changing church doctrine
The Plain Dealer: Jonathan Tan, the Archbishop Paul J. Hallinan Professor in Catholic Studies, discussed Pope Francis’ new treatise on family life. “He’s not the kind of pope that likes to argue legal principles, and doctrinal principles,” he said. “He is a pope that is first and foremost, coming out of Latin America, working with the human situation and addressing people’s needs.”
