The Department of Sociology and ACES +, the continuation of Academic Careers in Engineering & Sciences program, will host a lecture Wednesday, March 16, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center Senior Classroom.
Pamela Herd, professor of public affairs and sociology at the University of Wisconsin, will present “Promises and Pitfalls of Integrating Biological Data into Social Science Studies.”
Herd’s work focuses broadly on aging, policy, health, and inequality. One stream examines how social policies (i.e., Social Security) affect gender, race and class inequalities. The second stream focuses on the relationship between social factors and health.
A Q&A session and reception will follow the lecture; refreshments will be provided.
