Third-year oral and maxillofacial surgery resident Nikolay Levintov earned the Outstanding Case Report award from the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons at the fourth annual Resident Research Forum in Philadelphia on Nov. 20.
He was awarded for his case report, titled “Aggressive Tumor of the Maxilla in a Pediatric Patient.” The patient in the case was brought from Saudi Arabia to be treated in Cleveland at University Hospitals by faculty and residents of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the School of Dental Medicine.
The 3-year-old patient had a large, life-threatening benign tumor growing uncontrollably on his upper jaw. He had surgery in October to remove the tumor.
