Chemists create adaptable metallic-cage gels
MIT News: Stuart Rowan, the Kent Hale Smith Professor of Engineering, commented on a new material created by MIT chemists called polyMOCs, which brings together the flexibility of polymer gels with the rigidity of metal-based clusters. “By using these clusters of metallic organic cages, they’ve been able to increase the functionality, and this gives the materials very different properties and mechanical behavior,” Rowan said.
