The VA Rehabilitation Research and Development Program awarded Steve Majerus, a research associate at Case Western Reserve University, an $180,000 award for his two-year research program “Real-time monitoring device for vascular signals.”
Majerus, also a researcher with the Advanced Platform Technology (APT) Center of Excellence at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and his research team will conduct clinical experiments, which will include evaluation of new approaches for non-invasive screening of hemodialysis vascular access patency.
A key goal of the study is to show how non-invasive monitoring methods are possible and can be reproduced and how innovative technology can be used for clinical application.
