A student competition information fair for Case Western Reserve University undergraduate and graduate students and Cleveland Institute of Art students will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Thwing Center atrium. The fair is an opportunity to learn about design and business competitions, network, join student groups and find support to launch a start-up.
Student groups present include Design for America, the Robotics Club, The Hacker Society, the Rocket Team, Baja Society of Automotive Engineers, Design, Build and Fly and others.
Professional organizations including the Great Lakes Energy Institute, CWRU Launchpad, Division of Engineering Leadership & Professional Practice, think[ box ] and CWRU Venture Clinic will be there to offer mentorship and advice to students taking part in the competitions.
Representatives from alumni- and corporate-sponsored competitions—including the Saint-Gobain Student Design Competition, the Spartan Challenge and the Clean Energy Challenge—will be present to recruit participants and answer questions. These competitions offer thousands of dollars in prize money and start-ups have emerged as a result of the support gained in these contests, including Pot Hole Patch, FCG Plasma and College Hamper.
Food will be provided at the event.
