Case Western Reserve will remember Xiaoyang Zhao, a mechanical and aerospace engineering doctoral student who died April 29, during a 2 p.m. service Wednesday, May 13, in Amasa Stone Chapel. He was 26.
Zhao, an international student from China, excelled in his research involving fire safety and was expected to receive his PhD next year. He also was known to be friendly to other international students in engineering, offering advice and information to those new to campus. His advisor was Leonard Case Jr. Professor of Engineering James T’ien, who thought extremely highly of Zhao as a scientist and as a person.
Members of Zhao’s family have traveled from China and will attend the service.
