Forget CSI: Real-life crime labs are a total mess
Mother Jones: Paul Giannelli, Distinguished University Professor and the Albert J. Weatherhead III and Richard W. Weatherhead Professor, discussed why crime labs in many cities have come under fire for mishandling cases recently. One reason, he said, is that the main organization that certifies labs is a nonprofit created by the labs whose work it’s supposed to assess. “The criticism is that it’s the fox guarding the chicken house,” he said.
