University Compliance Program to offer session on abiding by Foreign Corrupt Practices Act

Case Western Reserve University is committed to international engagement that promotes an inclusive culture of global citizenship. While many benefits come from the university’s global efforts, there are risks unique to international business. Because CWRU is a U.S. entity conducting business abroad, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) applies to all personnel and operations worldwide, regardless of location or nationality. Risks associated with violation of the FCPA include criminal, regulatory and reputational harm.

On Wednesday, April 29, the University Compliance Program will offer a presentation titled, “What You Need To Know about U.S. Anti-Bribery Laws: Understanding the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.” Presenters will provide background information on the FCPA, discuss how the FCPA applies to CWRU, highlight pitfalls to FCPA compliance, and will share FCPA compliance “red flags” that every person conducting international business on behalf of CWRU should know.

This session will be held Wednesday, April 29, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Toepfer Room of Adelbert Hall. Seating is limited, so the event will be first come, first seated.
