All students are invited to attend a presentation on “Discovering Today’s Poland” with Richard Romaniuk, an adjunct faculty member at Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and a supervisory social worker at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The presentation will be held Nov. 14, 1-3 p.m., in the Mandel School’s Room 224.
Romaniuk, who came to Case Western Reserve from the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1988, will discuss the transformation that has occurred in Poland as it has moved from a socialist state through the Solidarity movement to a democracy with elected leaders, and the transition’s impact on Polish people and their descendants in the Cleveland area, including issues related to substance abuse, domestic violence and homelessness.
The event is free for students, and no registration is required. For more information, contact Debby Jacobson at dxj@case.edu.
