Film director Olayinka Hassan will present her 11-minute short film, The Antidote of Life, on Friday, Nov. 21, at 12:30 p.m. in Clark Hall, Room 309.
Originally a chemist, Hassan decided to return to school to pursue her graduate studies in directing. Hassan’s film combines her two passions, science and the arts, as she attempts to break Hollywood stereotypes about African-American women. The film offers a fictional look at an African-American career woman in Chicago as she juggles work, family and other responsibilities.
After the film, there will be a discussion and Q&A session led by Case Western Reserve University’s African American Society.
All are welcome to attend. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
This program is sponsored by the Ethnic Studies Program in support of the #webelonghere movement. The event is co-sponsored by the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women and the Women’s and Gender Studies Program.
